National Iranian freestyle wrestling team has registered its second victory in a row at the Freestyle World Cup 2016, which is currently underway in the United States, and trounced the Indian side.
On Saturday evening, the Iranian sportsmen drew the awe of spectators at The Forum in city of Inglewood, southwest of downtown Los Angeles, as they blanked their South Asian counterparts 8-0 in their second Pool B meeting.
Iran’s Reza Ahmadali Atrinagharchi prevailed over Indian freestyle wrestler Amit Kumar by forfeit in the men’s 57-kilogram weight category.
Bajrang Bajrang conceded a 2-4 defeat to Iran’s Masoud Esmaeilpoorjouybari in the 61-kilogram weight division.
Iranian competitor Seyed Ahmad Mohammadi-Pahnehkolaei overcame India’s Rajnesh Rajneesh 12-20 by a technical fall in the men’s 65-kilogram weight class.
Additionally, Mostafa Mohabbali Hosseinkhani defeated Indian opponent Kumar Omprakash Vinod 2-0 in the 70-kilogram category.
In the 74-kilogram class, Iran’s Hassan Yazdani downed Indian rival Parveen Rana 12-2 by a technical fall.
Alireza Mohammad Karimimachiani also defeated India’s Pawan Kumar 10-0 by a technical fall.
Moreover, Amir Mohsen Mohammadi and Parviz Khodavirdi Hadi Basmanj emerged victorious in the 97-kilogram and 125-kilogram weight categories respectively after beating Satywart Kadian 12-1 by a technical fall and Hitender Hitender by forfeit.
The Freestyle World Cup 2016 started in Inglewood, near Los Angeles, the US, on Saturday and will finish the next day.
Pool A consists of Russia, Georgia, Turkey and Mongolia. Iran has been drawn in Pool B along with the United States, Azerbaijan, and India.
The national Iranian freestyle wrestling team is in search of the Fifth Straight Title at the two-day prestigious sporting event.
The results from the groups will determine the final placement matches on Sunday afternoon.
