Iranian freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers have ranked first at the end of the 2016 Yadegar Imam Cup international cadet wrestling tournament hosted by the Islamic Republic.
On Friday night, Iran’s A freestyle wrestling team clinched seven gold medals in the 46-kilogram, 50-kilogram, 54-kilogram, 63-kilogram, 69-kilogram, 76-kilogram and 100-kilogram weight categories in the 12,000-seater hall of Azadi Sports Complex in western Tehran, and became the champion.
Armenia finished in the second place; and Iran B, Greece, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine wrestling team finished third to seventh.
Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers earned seven gold medals to win the top honor. Athletes from Azerbaijan ranked second, and were followed by counterparts from Iran B, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Iran C and Ukraine outfits.
The 2016 Yadegar Imam Cup international cadet wrestling tournament, which was the six edition of the sporting event, opened in Tehran, Iran, on March 3 and concluded on March 4.
