Iran wrestlers rank first in Ukraine international tournament

Iranian freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers have exhibited impressive performances at the 20th edition of Outstanding Ukrainian Wrestlers and Coaches Memorial and ranked first, having collected nine medals, including four golds.

Mehran Nasiri recorded impressive performances in the 61-kilogram, and prevailed over Ivan Bileichuk from the host nation to clinch the gold medal of the weight division. Ludvik Sholinian, another representative from Ukraine, settled for the bronze.

In the 70-kilogram weight class, Andriy Kvyatkovskyy from Ukraine picked up the gold, while Iran’s Saeed Dadashpour and Valter Margaryan from Armenia snatched the silver and bronze medals respectively.

Peyman Yarahmadi aced in the 74-kilogram weight section, winning the gold medal. Adam Hall, a contestant from the United States, grabbed silver and Ukrainian Giya Chykhladze earned the bronze medal.

Additionally, Iran’s Reza Bayat received a bronze medal in the 86-kilogram weight category. Ibragim Aldatov from Ukraine won gold, and the silver went to Liubomyr Sagaliuk, also from Ukraine.

Iran’s Greco-Roman wrestlers Azim Garmsiri and Mahdi Fallah Hamidabadi were also awarded a gold medal each in the 71-kilogram and 80-kilogram weight classes. Davood Akhbari collected a bronze medal in the 85-kilogram category.

The 20th edition of Outstanding Ukrainian Wrestlers and Coaches Memorial opened in Kiev on February 13, and finished the next day.

The international tournament brought together dozens of male and female freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers from tens of countries, including Armenia, Algeria, Brazil, Cuba, Georgia, Greece, Iran, Ukraine and the United States.
