The Palestinian foreign ministry says the Israeli regime has been “buying time” to press ahead with its campaign of “ethnic cleansing and displacement” of Palestinians across the occupied territories.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said the Israeli authorities were using tactics to continue their campaign of “genocide and annexation” in the occupied West Bank, including al-Quds.
The ministry further emphasized that this strategy is aimed at altering the political, legal, and historical realities to “serve Israel's colonial and racist expansionist goals” across the region.
The ministry strongly condemned the Israeli regime's desperate efforts to undermine the international community's decisions and legal frameworks on resolving the Palestinian issue.
Elsewhere in the statement, the ministry denounced the ongoing Israeli military campaign, which “jeopardizes the lives and existence of Palestinians on their own land.”
The statement also commended the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding Israel in July last year.
Legal experts say the “landmark” opinion by the ICJ necessitates Israel to facilitate the return of Palestinians to their lands occupied by the Zionist regime since 1967.
Since the Israeli regime launched the campaign of genocide in the Gaza Strip in October 2023, violence in the occupied West Bank has soared. Israeli forces have killed at least 820 Palestinians in the West Bank since, according to the Ramallah-based health ministry.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former minister of military affairs Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
The regime also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice.
More than 46,500 Palestinians have been killed in the vicious Israeli campaign in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
