US presidential vote

The first vote results in the US presidential election are gradually coming in, as polls in several states close and vote counting begins. Polling stations have closed in a number of states, including some swing states. Former President, Donald Trump is projected to win in 10 states, including Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia. Meanwhile, vice president Kamala Harris is expected to win in eight states, including Vermont and Massachusetts. The electoral votes are now split 101 to 71 in favor of Trump. Over 80 million people out of 161 million registered voters have cast their ballots so far. A final outcome may not be known for several days if the results are as close as the polls suggest. The two candidates wrapped up their campaigns on Monday night as they focused on swing states to sway undecided voters.

Hezbollah retaliatory operations

The Hezbollah resistance movement presses ahead with its retaliatory operations against Israel, targeting the regime’s military bases and settlements deep inside the occupied territories. In one of its latest operations, the group targeted the Maale Golani barracks, the headquarters of Israel’s 810th Hermon Brigade, with a barrage of missiles. Hezbollah also hit an explosives' factory in Hadera, south of Haifa, with missiles. Meanwhile, the resistance targeted gatherings of Israeli soldiers in the Ramtha site in the occupied Kfar Shuba hills with a barrage of missiles. Gatherings of Israeli soldiers in several settlements, including Dalton, Yiftah, Kiryat Shmona and Margaliot were hit with rocket barrages. Hezbollah’s drones also targeted a gathering of Israeli forces on the outskirts of the town of Maroun Al-Ras, and the Israeli army’s artillery emplacements in the settlement of Neot Mordechai.

Anti-Netanyahu protests

Thousands of protesters have taken to the streets in Tel Aviv and other cities across the occupied territories after Israel’s opposition members called for a general strike. That, after the regime’s prime minister sacked minister of military affairs, Yoav Gallant, in a surprise announcement on Tuesday evening. Protesters blocked a main highway in Tel Aviv and lit large bonfires, chanting slogans against Benjamin Netanyahu. Opposition leader, Yair Lapid, called the premier’s decision an act of madness. He said Netanyahu is selling out the regime’s security for his despicable political survival. The Israeli premier cited a breakdown in trust after months of growing discord between him and Gallant, as the reason behind his decision. Gallant has been a vocal critic of Netanyahu’s handling of the war in Gaza and his plans for the post-war governance of the territory. Israel Katz, the former foreign minister and a longtime Netanyahu loyalist, has replaced Gallant.
