Israel onslaught on Gaza

Israel presses ahead with its onslaught on Gaza, killing more Palestinians across the besieged territory. In the latest Israeli strikes, at least 15 people have lost their lives in the al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. Another 5 people were killed in a separate attack in the northern strip. Central and southern parts of Gaza remain the focal points of the Israeli bombing and shelling campaign in recent days. According to Gaza’s health ministry, Israeli attacks have left 27 people dead and nearly 80 others injured in the last 24 hours. Nearly 39,700 Palestinians have been killed and over 91,000 wounded since the regime launched its genocidal war on Gaza in October last year. Most of the victims are women and children.

Israel's 'strategic mistake'

Iran has congratulated Yahya Sinwar on his appointment as the new political leader of Hamas, calling the election a demonstration of hope, unity and authority in the Palestinian resistance movement. Acting Foreign Minister, Ali Bagheri Kani, said Sinwar’s appointment also displays the failure of Israel’s policy of terror, occupation and aggression. He asserted that the Palestinian resistance will continue the path of its martyred leader Ismail Haniyeh until the liberation of the entire historical land of Palestine, from the river to the sea. Later in an interview, Bagheri also said the Israeli regime committed a “costly strategic mistake” by assassinating Haniyeh.

Response to Israel 'inevitable'

The leader of Yemen’s Ansarullah movement says Iran’s response to Israel’s assassination of Ismail Haniyeh is inevitable and no pressure or intimidation will prevent it. Abdul-Malik al-Houthi said Israel is in a state of great fear in light of the looming retaliatory attacks. He called the delay in Iran’s retaliation "a purely tactical matter" with the aim of creating the utmost impact on Israel. Houthi also said the unanimous selection of Yahya Sinwar as Hamas new leader, carries an important message to Israel, as he is best known for steadfastness, military skills and leadership competence. He hailed Sinwar as the best successor to the best predecessor. Regarding Yemen's anti-Israeli operations, Houthi stressed that the decline in maritime activities in the Red Sea reflects their effectiveness in throwing the Israeli ports into bankruptcy. The Yemeni leader praised the Palestinians’ patience and resistance against Israeli attacks, and called for million-strong pro-Palestine rallies across Yemen.
