US-Israel genocide in Gaza
It’s almost ten months into the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza; the Tel Aviv regime continues to leave a trail of death and destruction across the blockaded Palestinian territory. In one of the fresh attacks, at least eight people were killed in an Israeli bombing of a home in Gaza City. Warplanes also struck a residential building in the southern city of Khan Yunis, leaving several dead and wounded. In northern Gaza, the regime’s military targeted a group of Palestinians, killing at least one and injuring several others. An unknown number of Palestinians were killed and injured in shelling elsewhere. The regime’s aggression on Gaza began last October. Since then, more than 39,300 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 91,000 others injured.
Iran new president
Representatives and officials from more than 70 countries are set to attend the inauguration ceremony of Masoud Pezeshkian as Iran’s new president later today. Foreign delegations, including presidents, vice-presidents, deputy prime ministers, parliament speakers as well as some 600 domestic and international journalists, will attend the ceremony. Sixty-nine-year-old Pezeshkian will swear in as president in the country's parliament. Pezeshkian will take the oath of office before lawmakers, the Judiciary chief, and members of a Constitutional body known as the Guardian Council. Iran’s ninth president formally began his four-year term on Sunday after his victory was endorsed by Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. The snap election was called shortly after President Ebrahim Raeisi lost his life in a tragic helicopter crash in May.
Venezuela post-election violence
The Venezuelan president has slammed the extreme right for violent protests that broke out after he secured yet another victory in the election to remain in power. Nicolas Maduro, however, assured the nation of putting down the violence. Maduro also described the violent protesters as criminals and terrorists. He was speaking in a televised address from the presidential palace. Violence erupted across the country a day after Maduro secured his third term in office by winning 51% of the votes in the election held on Sunday. The opposition has accused Maduro’s declaration of victory as fraudulent. The US has also once again leveled allegations of election manipulation in the South American country.
