US-Israeli Gaza genocide
Wednesday night was tinged with blood for the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip, as the Israeli military continued to pound the territory with more attacks. In one of the deadliest strikes, nearly 70 Palestinians were killed and more than 100 others injured in a neighborhood near the Kamal Adwan hospital in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza. In a separate strike, nearly two dozen Palestinians, including 10 children, were killed in an Israeli attack on a home in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, north of Gaza City. To the south, an Israeli strike on the tent of displaced Palestinians in the al-Mawasi refugee camp in Khan Yunis left several Palestinians dead. The deadly Wednesday strikes come as nearly 44,000 civilians have been killed so far and more than 104,000 others injured in Israel’s genocidal war since October last year.
'US complicit in Gaza genocide'
Palestinian resistance movements have strongly condemned the US veto of a UN Security Council resolution that called for a ceasefire in the besieged Gaza Strip. Hamas said by vetoing the resolution, the US once again demonstrated its direct complicity in the aggression against Palestinians. It added that Washington acts as an accomplice in the killing of children and women and the complete destruction of civilian life in Gaza. It stressed that the US is directly responsible for the Gaza genocide and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. Hamas also urged the international community to end the US disregard for international will, which has led to wars both within the region and beyond. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad also called the American administration a partner to the genocide and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza. The Security Council resolution received 14 votes in favor, with the US being the sole member to reject it. This is the fifth time that the US rejects a Gaza truce resolution.
Slamming anti-Iran resolution
Tehran has strongly condemned the adoption of an anti-Iran human rights resolution by the third committee of the UN General Assembly as a politically-motivated and unjustified move. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei described the move as hypocritical and a blatant example of instrumental use of human rights to achieve illegitimate political objectives. He said Canada and some other Western governments that offered the resolution are among human rights violators and complicit in Israel’s genocidal war on Palestinians. Referring to Israel’s role in drafting the resolution, Baghaei called it a major political and moral scandal for its Western sponsors. He stressed that the Islamic Republic is a democratic system and committed to promotion of human rights in line with its international obligations. Iran's deputy UN ambassador also slammed the resolution. Zahra Ershadi said sponsors of the resolution brazenly support Israeli regime’s atrocities and continue to supply it with weapons amid the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
