US-Israeli Gaza genocide
The Israeli military presses ahead with its genocidal campaign in Gaza, leaving a trail of death and destruction across the blockaded territory. In the southern city of Khan Yunis, at least 18 Palestinians, including eight children, were killed, and many others injured after several areas were bombed. Israeli jets also struck a Palestinian home in Jabalia, northern Gaza, killing over half a dozen civilians. Nearly 10 Palestinians were also killed after Israeli artillery shelled areas east of Gaza City. The regime’s air raids claimed the lives of over a dozen Palestinians, including six children, in the al-Bureij refugee camp and Gaza City’s al-Zaytoun neighborhood. The Israeli aggression against Gaza has killed nearly 45,900 Palestinians since October 2023, leaving over 109,000 others wounded.
Israeli crimes in Gaza
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees has issued a serious warning about the increasing number of Palestinian infants dying in Gaza due to severe cold and lack of shelter. A senior UNRWA official said newborns are dying in Gaza simply due to lack of blankets and warm clothes. Juliette Touma added that a shortage of basic winter supplies is likely to kill even more babies in the blockaded territory. She described the deaths as tragedies that must not happen in the 21st century. The UN official called on the Israeli regime to lift the siege on Gaza and allow the delivery of blankets and winter clothes. UNICEF has also warned of more deaths among Gaza newborns due to severe cold amid the very limited ability of humanitarian organizations to provide them with life-saving aid. Gaza officials say at least eight people, including seven infants, have died in displacement camps due to cold weather.
Rejecting Macron allegations
Tehran has strongly rejected French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent anti-Iran allegations, calling them baseless and contradictory. The Foreign Ministry spokesman said it is regrettable that, instead of the apartheid regime of Israel, the French president incriminates Iran, which has always respected international law. Esmail Baghaei stressed that it is Israel which poses a real and immediate threat to regional peace and stability, but still enjoys the full support of the US and some European countries, including France. Regarding Macron’s claims about Iran's peaceful nuclear program, Baghaei said Tehran’s nuclear activities are within the framework of international law and under strict and continuous supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency. He also rejected allegations about Iran's intervention in the Ukraine conflict, saying such irresponsible statements are meant to distort the facts. Macron has accused Iran of being the main strategic and security challenge in the region, citing the acceleration of the country’s nuclear program and its alleged support for Russia's war against Ukraine.
