US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

The Israeli army’s ground and air attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip continue relentlessly, resulting in more casualties and displacement of civilians. The regime’s latest airstrikes on Rafah in southern Gaza have left six civilians dead. In central Gaza, bodies have been pulled from the rubble after the regime bombed residential buildings. The Al-Maghazi medical center has also been damaged in the regime's airstrikes. Meanwhile, Israeli tanks continue pushing into the northern Gaza Strip for the third consecutive day. Eyewitnesses say several bodies were seen on the streets of the Shujaiya area near Gaza City. In retaliation, Palestinian resistance fighters have ambushed regime soldiers in the north. Over the past nine months, the genocidal war on Gaza left more than 38,800 deaths, mostly women and children.

Iran run-off vote

The two candidates in Iran’s run-off election have resumed campaigning; one meeting with the public in person and the other taking to social media to sway voters. Saeed Jalili was at the Grand Bazaar in the capital Tehran. He said improving the economic situation is one of his main goals and has already prepared micro- and macro-plans to achieve this. He said the people will have to choose between an economic leap or a return to the era when the country’s economy was tied to the 2015 deal known as the JCPOA. Masoud Pezeshkian, meanwhile, put up a post on X, vowing that his administration would firmly stand up to Internet filtering. Pezeshkian said he would resist any outside pressure in this regard. Iranians will go to the polls on Friday in the second round of the country’s presidential election.

France snap election

Voting is underway in the first round of a snap election in France that could take away the parliamentary majority of President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist Ensemble party. Voting will end at 18:00 GMT and exit polls are expected shortly. French officials say the turnout in the election was the highest since 1986. The election was announced by President Macron three years ahead of schedule. He dissolved the parliament after his party was beaten by Marine Le Pen’s National Rally party in the European Parliament elections. Opinion polls show the nationalists are now the favorite to win. Macron has vowed to remain president until his term ends in 2027, regardless of the result. But he is required to appoint a prime minister from the party that wins the majority in the parliament.
