US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

Israel has launched fresh air and artillery strikes on Gaza, killing more Palestinians in the besieged territory. A number of civilians lost their lives after the Israeli military fired artillery shells on several neighborhoods of Gaza City. Two other Palestinians were killed when the regime’s military rained down shells on Beit Lahia in northern Gaza. Also in the north, Israeli forces bulldozed and burned some agricultural lands. To the south, several areas of the flashpoint city of Rafah were targeted. In a matter of 24 hours, Israeli attacks have killed at least 43 Palestinians and injured scores more. The death toll from the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023 has exceeded 37,800, most of them women and children.

Israeli war crimes

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has condemned as a full-fledged war crime Israel’s use of Palestinian abductees as human shields during its ground invasion of Gaza. According to a statement by the political bureau of Hamas, Israel has blatantly violated all laws of war and international conventions. The statement said using abductees as human shields adds to Israel’s record of crimes and violations against Palestinians. Hamas has called on the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court to add the crimes of human shields to the lawsuits filed against Israel over its Gaza genocide. The condemnation came after the release of a video showing how Palestinian abductees were forced to enter residential buildings and tunnels ahead of the regime’s troopers. The Israeli forces would survive and the kidnapped Palestinians lose their lives if bombs were set up to explode in those buildings or tunnels.

Palestinian prisoners plight

The Palestinian resistance movement, Islamic Jihad, has strongly condemned a statement by a far-right Israeli minister who called for shooting Palestinian prisoners in the head. The Islamic Jihad said Itamar Ben-Gvir’s remarks are a reflection of his criminal mentality and policies toward Palestinians. It said these policies include depriving Palestinian inmates of water, food and medicine, as well as practicing the most brutal forms of systematic torture against them. The resistance movement said such statements are also a disgrace to all those who have been supporting the Israeli regime and remaining silent about its crimes. The Islamic Jihad, however, urged Palestinians to remain steadfast in their struggle against the Israeli occupation. Last year, the Israeli Knesset approved the first reading of a bill introduced by Ben-Gvir that allows a return of the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners.
