Western hypocrisy
Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi has blasted Western hypocrisy regarding the recent riots in the Islamic republic. Raeisi says the west promoted propaganda that portrays Iran as on the decline. He says, however, that western powers also send messages that they did not seek subversion in Iran and are ready to resume talks on the revival of the 20-15 nuclear deal. The president also says the riots were a multi-faceted war on Iran including by such powers as the US as well as such anti-Iran groups as M-K-O terrorists. Raeisi is also warning against attempts to undermine the country’s national solidarity. He says any such move will be in line with enemies’ strategy of undermining Iran’s independence.
Saudi Yemen blockade
Yemen’s Health Ministry is calling on the United Nations to fulfill its humanitarian role and help the removal of the inhumane blockade by the Saudi-led coalition on the Yemeni people. The ministry says the coalition is still preventing ships from carrying essential medical supplies to Yemen.
Japan minister resignation
The cabinet of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is rocked by the fourth departure; just four months after his government took office. Kishida’s reconstruction minister has resigned over alleged financial improprieties. Kenya Akiba will be replaced by former reconstruction minister Hiromichi Watanabe. Three other cabinet ministers have also quit in close succession due to scandals. This, coupled with revelations about ties between lawmakers and the controversial Unification Church, has taken its toll on Kishida’s approval ratings. He is now battling some of the lowest approval ratings of his tenure. The premier, however, remains defiant despite speculation that he is considering a cabinet reshuffle before the parliament re-opens in January.
