Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed condolences over a terrorist attack in northwestern Pakistan.
In a letter of condolence on Thursday, Pezeshkian expressed sympathy with the Pakistani government and nation, as well as the bereaved families of the victims of the attack.
At least 42 people were killed and dozens wounded when a group of Takfiri terrorists opened fire on passenger vehicles carrying Shia Muslim civilians in Pakistan's restive northwestern region.
Local Pakistani officials said the attack happened on Thursday in Kurram, a scenic mountainous district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, bordering neighboring Afghanistan.
It was one of the deadliest such attacks in the region in recent years against Pakistan's Shia community.
Pakistani security forces are currently carrying out intelligence-based operations across the different insecure regions of the country.
