A rather newly-established sheikhdom in the Persian Gulf, the United Arab Emirates is trying hard to gain its foothold in the region. This ambition has been accompanied with a series of military adventurism or acts of sabotage; the most recent and vicious one is Abu Dhabis participation in the Yemen War, a bloody campaign spearheaded by the Saudis against the poorest nation in the region.
But Yemen has been just an overt instance of the Emiratis destructive role in the region. The fact is the UAE hasnt missed a single chance- especially in recent years to exert influence in countries plagued with internal crises; above all, Iraq, a country of critical importance.
