Iran Army drills

The Iranian Army has launched massive military exercises, involving a vast expanse of land and sea. Four units of the Army, namely the Ground Force, the Naval Force, the Air Force, and the Air Defense Force took part in the drills. The maneuvers cover an area of more than one million square kilometers, extending from the east of the Hormuz Strait all the way to the north of the Indian Ocean. The maneuvers are featuring a whole variety of exercises, such as electronic warfare, and reconnaissance drones. The drills also include the use of air defense batteries to strike mock enemy targets, plus air patrols by manned and unmanned aircraft.

Iraqi PM assassination attempt

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi has said he's unhurt after a drone attack targeted his residence in Baghdad’s green zone. Kadhimi is calling on Iraqi citizens to remain calm and maintain peaceful dialog for the sake of their country and its future. The attack has injured several members of Kadhimi's personal protection team. Iraq has seen some turmoil following last month’s general elections. There have been protests over the election results. The latest protests in Baghdad, just two days ago, turned out of control, and consequently, one person was killed. Following that, Kadhimi ordered a committee to investigate the violence. So far, there's been no claim of responsibility for the attack on the premier’s house. But the Iraqi military says it was an attempt to assassinate the official.

US consulate for Palestinians

Israel’s prime minister has said the regime would oppose the reopening of the US consulate for Palestinians in al-Quds. Naftali Bennett suggested that such a mission should be opened elsewhere in the occupied West Bank. The consulate was shut and merged with the US Embassy under former President Donald Trump in 2018. The Trump administration also recognized al-Quds as Israel’s capital and relocated the U-S embassy from Tel Aviv to the illegally annexed city. The move sparked outrage among Palestinians who deem al-Quds the capital of their future Palestinian state.
