Toyota’s Nasser Al-Attiyah has clinched Stage 8 of the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia, while Stephane Peterhansel extended his overall lead.
The Qatari driver finished the Stage on Monday in 2 hours, 56 minutes and 56 seconds, ahead of the defending champion, Carlos Sainz, with Peterhansel finishing in 3rd.
Meanwhile, in the general rankings, 13-time champion, Peterhansel, has a 5 minute lead over Al-Attiyah, while Sainz is further behind in 3rd. Stage 9 on Tuesday will feature a 579 kilometer route.
