Field executions, sexual violence: Survivors recount Israeli crimes at Kamal Adwan Hospital
A Geneva-based monitor group cites horrendous crimes committed by Israel’s military forces against Palestinians during their raid on Kamal Adwan Hospital, the last major health facility in north Gaza, which is now out of service.
The World Health Organization said Saturday that the hospital was “now empty,” after the raid put the health facility out of service on Friday. Some reports, however, say some patients, including those on ventilators, still remained inside the hospital.
On Saturday, Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor cited harrowing testimonies given by witnesses that nurses, patients, and their companions were subjected to acts of sexual violence at the hospital.
Israeli soldiers, the rights group said, forced women and girls to remove their clothing under threats, insults, and offensive slurs targeting their honor and dignity. Several women and girls also reported being sexually harassed, said the rights group.
According to testimonies, Israeli forces have also detonated booby-trapped robots near several inhabited homes, causing their collapse and killing the residents, said Euro-Med Monitor. They executed civilians on the spot, some of whom were wounded, while others carried white flags.

The director of the hospital, Dr. Abu Safiya, and other staff were reportedly assaulted before being abducted by Israeli forces on Friday. According to their colleagues and eyewitnesses, their whereabouts are still unclear.
Before being abducted, Safiya said in a post on social media that Israeli forces were besieging the facility, “and issuing orders for its evacuation.”
Multiple nurses have said staff and patients were then ordered to leave the hospital and gather outside.
Citing two nurses, CNN reported that staff and patients were separated by gender once they were outside and both men and women were told to remove their clothes.
"Those who refused to remove their clothing were beaten," said Shorouq Saleh Al-Rantisi, a nurse working in the laboratory.
Israel’s military has destroyed and burned most sections of the hospital after targeting it with shells.
According to the World Health Organization, the lives of the 75,000 Palestinians remaining in besieged northern Gaza are now at risk.
