Iranian taekwondo fighters have presented sparkling performances at the 8th edition of Asian Taekwondo Club Championships G1, and collected four gold medals at the continental sports event.
On Monday evening, Arash Salahinejad got the gold medal in the junior men’s minus 54-kilogram weight division after he managed to overcome his compatriot Arash Tabrizi in the final encounter of the category at multi-purpose Enghelab Sports Complex in Karaj, situated 35 kilometers west of the Iranian capital Tehran.
Iran’s Amir Valipour and Mohammed Sulaymani from Iraq shared the bronze medal.
Soroush Ahmadi also prevailed Farzan Ashourzadeh, another taekwondo practitioner from Iran, in the final contest of the junior men’s minus 63-kilogram weight section to snatch the second gold medal for Iran.
Samir Akhundzadeh from Afghanistan and Iraqi contestant Hussain al-Eidani settled for the bronze.
Iranian taekwondo fighter Ramin Hossein Qolizadeh also earned a gold medal in the junior men’s minus 74-kilogram weight class. His compatriot Mehdi Jalali scooped the silver.
The bronze medal went to Mustafa Nasser and Montader Salam from Iraq.
In the minus 87-kilogram weight class, Ahmad Mohammadi overcame Mehdi Khodabakhshi, also from Iran, to be awarded the yellow medal.
Mohammad Reza Khani from Iran and Iraqi athlete Mohammed Reza Inanlou got a third-place finish.
The 8th edition of Asian Taekwondo Club Championships started on April 23, 2018 and will finish the following day.
