Iran captures crown at 2018 World Taekwondo Junior Championships

Young Iranian taekwondo practitioners have featured praiseworthy displays of spinning kicks and fast kicking techniques at the 2018 World Taekwondo Junior Championships in Tunisia, and won the tile at the conclusion of the prestigious international event.

On Friday evening, the Iranian boys’ team topped general classification at La Salle Couverte in the northeastern Tunisian town of Hammamet, having scooped seven gold and two bronze medals. The Iranian taekwondo practitioners won the championship with 110 points.

South Korea followed in the second place with one gold, one silver and two bronze medals, having notched 54 points.

Male Turkish taekwondo fighters claimed the third spot, having garnered one gold and two silver medals besides 52 points.

Meanwhile, Russian girls lifted the trophy with 62 points, having snatched one gold, one silver and five bronze medals.

British female athletes finished runner-up, having collected two gold medals. They earned 49 points.

South Korean contestants landed in the third position of the chart, having pocketed one gold, one silver and one bronze medals.

The Islamic Republic of Iran finished tenth by 33 points, having won just one bronze medal.

The 2018 World Taekwondo Junior Championships kicked off on April 6, and finished on April 13.

The tournament brought together 950 male and female taekwondo practitioners from 118 countries, including Argentina, Azerbaijan, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Croatia, Germany, India, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Russia, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
