Young Iranian taekwondo fighters have demonstrated awe-inspiring displays at the 2018 World Taekwondo Junior Championships in Tunisia, and received four medals, including three precious golden ones.
On Tuesday, Amirsina Bakhtiyari got the gold medal in the junior men’s minus 55-kilogram weight division after he managed to overcome his Argentine opponent Jose Luis Acuna in the final encounter of the category in the northeastern Tunisian town of Hammamet.
Amir Valipour also prevailed over Azerbaijani participator Khanoghlan Karimov in the final contest of the junior men’s minus 51-kilogram weight section to snatch another gold medal for Iran.
Earlier in the tournament, Iranian taekwondo fighter Hossein Lotfi earned a gold medal in the junior men’s minus 45-kilogram weight class.
Additionally, Mobina Kalivand picked up a bronze medal in her final competition of the junior women’s minus 42-kilogram weight section.
The 2018 World Taekwondo Junior Championships kicked off on April 6, and will finish on April 13.
The tournament has brought together 950 male and female taekwondo practitioners from 118 countries, including Argentina, Azerbaijan, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Croatia, Germany, India, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Russia, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
