Iranian taekwondo practitioners have shown commendable displays of spinning kicks and fast kicking techniques at the third edition of Asian Para-Taekwondo Open Championships in South Korea, and captured the title at the conclusion of the tournament.
On Saturday, the national Iranian men's para-taekwondo team stood on the top podium, having secured four gold medals through Saeed Sadeqianpour, Ahmad Narimani, Mehdi Pourrahnama and Asghar Azizi in the K42 minus 61-kilogram, K42 over 75-kilogram, K44 minus 75-kilogram and K44 over 75-kilogram sections.
Sajjad Javanbakht and Mahmoud Ja’farzadeh also received a silver and bronze medal in the K42 minus 61-kilogram and K42 minus 75-kilogram divisions respectively.
Russia ended up as the vice champion, and Turkey claimed the third spot.
Iran’s Payam Khanlarkhani was also named the best men's head coach.
The third edition of Asian Para-Taekwondo Open Championships was held in South Korea’s northern city of Chuncheon on July 1, 2017.
A total of 115 taekwondo practitioners from twenty countries reportedly took part in the event.
