Young Iranian taekwondo practitioners have featured praiseworthy displays of spinning kicks and fast kicking techniques at the 3rd edition of World Taekwondo Cadet Championships in Egypt, and claimed the title at the conclusion of the tournament.
On Sunday evening, Iran topped general classification, having scooped three gold, five silver and one bronze medals. The Islamic Republic won the championship with 106 points.
Thailand followed in the second place with three gold, three silver and three bronze medals, having notched 93 points.
Turkey landed in the third position of the chart, having pocketed two gold, three silver and three bronze medals. Turkish taekwondo practitioners accumulated 89 points.
Iranian boys’ team finished second, having secured one gold medal through Amirarsalan Khanzadeh in the minus 45-kilogram weight category. Shayan Rostami, Seddiq Rahiminia and Amirreza Ghasemi collected three silver medals in minus 49-kilogram, minus 57-kilogram and minus 61-kilogram classes respectively.
Mexico claimed the top stop with three gold medals and 49 points. Male Russian taekwondo fighters sat in the third place, having garnered one gold, two silver and one bronze medals besides 43 points.
Meanwhile, Thai girls lifted the trophy with 64 points, having snatched three gold and two silver medals.
Turkish female athletes finished runner-up, having collected two gold, two silver and two bronze medals. They earned 61 points.
Iran finished third by 58 points, having won two gold, two silver and one bronze medals.
The 3rd edition of World Taekwondo Cadet Championships in Egypt started in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, on August 24 and finished on August 27, 2017.
Dozens of male and female taekwondo practitioners from various world countries, including Belarus, Brazil, Chinese Taipei, Egypt, India, Iran, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Morocco, the Philippines, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Vietnam, took part in the event.
