Iranian taekwondo practitioners from Alborz team have claimed the title at the conclusion of the 29th edition of International Fajr Taekwondo Cup in Iran, thanks to the commendable displays of spinning kicks and fast kicking techniques they featured during the competitions.
On Sunday evening, Alborz team finished first and stood on the top podium, having secured four medal and four bronze medals through Armin Hadipour, Mohammad Hassan Palangafkan, Amir Hossein Sasan, Mehdi Khodabakhshi, Fazan Ashourzadeh, MohammaS Salar Vahidi, Ahmad Mohammadi and Sajjad Mardani in the minus 54-kilogram, minus 58-kilogram, minus 74-kilogram, minus 80-kilogram, minus 63-kilogram, minus 68-kilogram, minus 87-kilogram and over 87-kiloram weight categories respectively.
Taekwondo practitioners from the outfit won the championship with 67 points. Alborz’s Mohammad Taqi Khazraei was also named the best men's coach.
Qeshm Free Trade Zone, another Iranian side, followed in the second place with three gold and four silver medals, having notched 66 points.
Iran’s Kish Free Trade Zone rounded off the podium, having pocketed one gold, three silver and three bronze medals. The squad accumulated 48 points.
Meanwhile, Iranian girls lifted the trophy with 56 points. Azerbaijani contestants finished runner-up, having earned 14 points.
Afghanistan finished third by 14 points as well.
The 29th edition of International Fajr Taekwondo Cup started at multi-purpose Enghelab Sports Complex in Karaj, situated 35 kilometers west of the Iranian capital Tehran, on April 21, 2018, and finished the following day.
Dozens of male and female taekwondo practitioners from various countries, including Afghanistan, Armenia, India, Iraq, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Oman, Pakistan, Lebanon and Syria, took part in the event.
