Iranian professional beach soccer club Moghavemat Golsapoosh has proudly marched into the final showdown of the second edition of the Eurasia Beach Soccer Cup after beating Italian side Catania BS.
On Monday evening, the Iranian outfit was resolute not to let the opposite team fulfill its dream of featuring in the title challenge.
The Iranians won the semi-final fixture in the central Iranian city of Yazd, located 689 kilometers (427 miles) southeast of Tehran, 4-3 and shattered their Italian counterparts’ championship hopes.
Catania’s 33-year-old forward Paolo Palmacci opened the scoring, before Moghavemat Golsapoosh players turned score around to 3-1.
Maurício Pereira Braz de Oliveira, better known as Mauricinho, pulled one back for the Italian side, in the beginning of the third period, but Moghavemat custodian Hamid Behzadpour restored the two-goal margin three minutes later.
Mauricinho scored again, but the goal did not change Catania’s fate, and Moghavemat garnered all the three points and advanced to the decider.
Earlier in the day, Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow clinched a 6-4 win over Levante UD of Spain, and become the first contenders for the title.
The second edition of the Eurasia Beach Soccer Cup started in Iran on April 15, and will finish on April 17, 2018.
