Iranian judo practitioner Saeed Molaei has snatched a bronze medal at the Asian Judo Championships 2016 in Uzbekistan.
On Saturday, the Iranian sportsman received a bye in the first round of the men’s minus 81-kilogram contests at Sports Complex in the Uzbek capital city of Tashkent.
He triumphed over his Japanese opponent Kenya Kohara, and Rishod Sobirov of Uzbekistan in his first two encounters as he marched toward the semi-final round.
Molaei faced Lebanon’s Brazilian-born contestant Nacif Elias in the semi-final, where he conceded a defeat.
The Iranian judoka prevailed over Uuganbaatar Otgonbaatar, a representative from Mongolia, in the third-place match and won a bronze medal.
The Asian Judo Championships 2016 started in Tashkent on April 14 and will conclude on April 17.
The tournament has brought together 137 male judo practitioners and 98 female judokas from thirty countries, including China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Kazakhstan and Mongolia.
