Iranian female tennis players have gained a sweeping victory against Bahrain at the 2016 Fed Cup World Group II Play-offs in Thailand.
On Monday and the third day of the tournament at Centennial Sports Club in Thailand’s northern beach resort town of Hua Hin, Sadaf Sadegh-Vaziri played some cracking balls against Bahraini opponent Nazli Nader Redha that found targets out of defense. She eventually recorded a 6-0 win in the first set.
Sadegh-Vaziri continued to outdo the Bahraini competitor as the game kept flowing, clinching the second set by 6 points to 0 as well.
Later in the day, Iran’s Sara Amiri subdued Maram Mohammed Sharif, another representative from Bahrain, by two resounding 6-0 and 6-1 victories.
The Iranian tennis players also faced off with Sharif and Malak Jassim Fardan in a team clash, where they demonstrated impressive displays and thrashed the Bahrainis by two straight 6-0 wins.
The 2016 Fed Cup World Group II Play-offs started in Hua Hin, Thailand, on April 11 and will wrap up on April 15.
Iran has been drawn in Pool A of the sporting event, and is pitted against Bahrain, Hong Kong, Pacific Oceania and the Philippines.
Pool B consists of Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore and Sri Lanka.
