Iranian tennis player Shahin Khaledan has earned a spot in the main draw of the Turkey F50 Futures International Championship, thanks to commendable performances at the tournament.
On Monday, the 25-year-old Iranian sportsman’s pace and vision was a sight to behold and he played some cracking balls that found targets out of defense. He eventually registered a 6-1 win against Austrian opponent Christoph Lang in the first set.
Khaledan continued to prove the case up against the 23-year-old Austrian competitor as the game kept flowing, clinching the second set by 6 points to 0.
Lang could not close out the game, and a piece of brilliance from the Iranian tennis player finished the final set 6-2.
Earlier in the day, Khaledan subdued a representative from Russia by two straight 6-0 victories.
The Iranian tennis player will face 18-year-old Austrian rival Lenny Hampel in his first match at the main draw of Turkey F50 Futures.
The Turkey F50 Futures International Championship opened on December 14 and will wrap up on December 20, 2015.
The sports event has brought together tennis players from Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Canada, the Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Germany, Iran, Italy, Latvia, the Netherlands, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, the United States and Zimbabwe.
The names on the roster of the Iranian tennis team include Shahin Khaledan, Mohsen Hosseinzadeh and Anousha Shahgholi.
Iranian tennis players are preparing for the 2016 Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group III tournament, which will be staged at the Enghelab Sport Complex in Tehran, Iran, next summer.
