Iranian professional futsal player Vahid Shamsaei has been invited to feature in a charity game between teams of world’s retired professional footballers and futsal legends.
The 40-year-old Iranian sportsman received the invitation on Wednesday, and is mulling over his participation in the match, which is scheduled to be staged in London, Britain, late next year.
“There is still so much time left to the game, and I have not decided whether to accept the invitation or not,” Shamsaei commented.
The fixture will see two five-strong or six-strong outfits vying for scores. There are reports that English former professional footballer David Beckham, retired French footballer and current coach of Real Madrid Castilla Zinedine Zidane and Italian former professional footballer Alessandro Nesta have been invited to the event.
Shamsaei is officially the world’s top futsal scorer with a total of 390 goals. He is followed by Manoel Tobias of Brazil national futsal team with 82 goals less.
Shamsaei is currently the manager of Iran men’s national futsal team, and plays for the Tehran-based club Tasisat Daryaei as a forward.
On August 7, Tasisat Daryaei exhibited an awe-inspiring display of strength and athletic in the final showdown of the 2015 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Futsal Club Championship, and claimed the continental title with a 5-4 victory over Qadsia of Kuwait at Isfahan’s Nagsh-e-Jahan Stadium, central Iran.
The 2015 AFC Futsal Club Championship began in Isfahan on July 31, and wrapped up on August 7.
