Iran’s national futsal team has been drawn in Group B of the international competition with Uruguay, Angola and Colombia.
“We are in a good group; however, it would be better if we face strong teams. We will try to have the best performance in Brazil,” said Iran head coach Mohammad Nazemosharia before the start of the sports event.
The Grand Prix de Futsal was first held in 2005, and is held annually in Brazil.
Brazil is the most successful team in the tournament with eight titles. Spain won the futsal competition once in 2010.
Iran finished runner-up once in 2007, and a second time in 2009. The Islamic Republic stood on the bronze podium in 2013 and 2014. It claimed the fourth place in 2010 and the following year.
