Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says the Islamic Republic’s practical approach is based on the promotion of peace and security in the region and among all the countries in the Muslim world.

In a meeting with Oman's Foreign Minister Said Badr al-Busaidi in Tehran on Monday, Pezeshkian said Iran’s foreign policy is on the basis of expanding relations with Muslim and neighboring countries.

It is not acceptable at all that the “criminal” Israeli regime exploits differences among the regional countries and Muslim nations to harm them, he added.

Pointing to deep-rooted relations between Tehran and Muscat in various fields and at different levels, Pezeshkian said, “Further continuation and expansion of constructive relations is of importance to the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

He noted that Iran and Oman have agreed to hold a session of the joint economic committee in Muscat in the near future.

The two countries are taking positive measures to accelerate the implementation of previous agreements and sign new deals in the future, he explained.

The Omani foreign minister, for his part, said his country’s ties with Iran are based on mutual confidence and goodwill, calling for further promotion of relations.

Busaidi added that enhanced ties with Iran based on mutual respect and confidence is an unchangeable rule for Oman.

Earlier on Monday, the top Omani diplomat met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and attended a joint press conference.

During the presser, Araghchi said Iran and Oman as well as the majority of countries in the region have commonalities on the regional issues, and all call for the promotion of independence and stability in Syria.
