Syria’s fight against terrorism

The recent insurgence in Syria led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group began with a surprise offensive late November targeting the city of Aleppo and resulting in the capture of several towns and villages.

The attack coincided with the ceasefire agreement between Israeli regime and Lebanon. Apart from bring the coincidence, many believe that Israel is avenging its loss in Lebanon and Gaza through its support of the terrorists in Syria.

This as 48 hours before the attack on Aleppo Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu threatened Syrian President Bashar al-Assad not to provoke Israel, specifically regarding arms transfer to Hezbollah through Syrian territory.

Over the past year, Israeli occupied forces conducted more than 70 airstrikes against Syria, targeting border crossings believed to be used for arms transfer to Hezbollah.

This has given a chance to terrorists to attack Syria again.

In this episode of the Spotlight, Press TV delves into the multifaceted dynamics of Israel's involvement in Syria and its implications of regional stability in interview with Hafsa Kara-Mustapha, journalist and political commentator from London and Saeb Shaath, West Asia expert from Belfast.
