Syria fighting terrorism

The Syrian army has launched a large-scale military operation against the positions of Takfiri terrorist groups in the country’s northwest, foiling four major attacks by terrorists. The Syrian forces, backed by the Russian military, conducted airstrikes, targeting the headquarters, sites and vehicles of terrorist groups in the provinces of Idlib and Aleppo. They took control of several areas, including the town of Al-Baqoum that had fallen to Takfiri terrorists, forcing them to flee. The Syrian army also regained control of the town of Khan al-Assal, west of Aleppo, after violent clashes with Takfiri terrorists. The supply lines of armed Takfiri groups were targeted in the country’s northwest. Syria’s operations came after members of Takfiri terror groups and their allied forces attacked several areas in Aleppo and Idlib for the second day in a row. According to local sources, heavy fighting is still underway between the Syrian army and the terrorist groups in some areas. On Wednesday, at least 400 terrorists were killed in Idlib and Aleppo.

Slamming terrorism in Syria

Iran has warned against the resurgence of Takfiri-terrorist groups in Syria, calling for decisive and coordinated efforts to prevent the spread of terrorism across the region. Strongly condemning all forms of terrorism, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said Tehran considers the reactivation of terrorist groups in Syria part of an evil plan by Israel and the U-S to destabilize West Asia. Esmail Baghaei stressed the need for vigilance and coordination among regional countries, especially Syria's neighbors, to thwart this dangerous plot. The Iranian diplomat also referred to the international community’s responsibility to prevent and fight against the ominous phenomenon of terrorism. Baghaei warned that any delay in confronting terrorists in Syria will plunge the region into a new round of insecurity and instability. He voiced Iran's continued support for the Syrian government and people in their fight against terrorist groups to restore security and stability to the country.
