The top diplomats of Iran and Turkmenistan have reiterated their countries’ resolve to improve relations in various political, economic, scientific and cultural fields.
In a phone conversation, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Turkmen counterpart Rashid Meredov discussed the latest developments in bilateral cooperation and certain regional issues.
They exchanged views about ways to increase economic and trade relations as well as continuation of bilateral cooperation in regional and international organizations.
Araghchi said Tehran-and Ashgabat ties are developing on the right track.
The Turkmen foreign minister, for his part, said the recent visits by the two countries’ officials symbolize the high level of bilateral interaction.
Meredov also urged further promotion of ties in different sectors.
Late in August, Iran and Turkmenistan agreed to significantly expand their cooperation on energy and transportation issues as the two neighboring countries seek to benefit more from their strategic location in the region.
Four memoranda of understanding (MoU) were signed between Iran and Turkmenistan on August 28 during a visit by Turkmenistan’s National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow to Tehran.
