Gaza schools under attack
Israel is pushing ahead with its deadly air and artillery attacks against the besieged Gaza Strip. At least 33 Palestinian have been killed and 145 wounded in separate strikes on the enclave since Saturday afternoon. The central areas of Gaza have been the focus of the attacks where three residential buildings were struck. In another deadly attack, eight people were killed in an airstrike targeting a school in Jebalia refugee camp that sheltered displaced Palestinians. According to the human rights monitor, Euro-Med, Israel has bombed sixteen schools used as shelters in one month. The Palestinian Health Ministry says the number of Palestinians killed in Israeli onslaught on Gaza since early October last year is now close to 41,000.
Anti-Israel operation
At least three Israelis have been killed in a shooting operation near the border crossing between the occupied West Bank and Jordan. According to the Israeli media, the assailant opened fire at the crossing's cargo terminal before being shot dead by the Israeli forces. The attacker was a Jordanian truck driver. Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas called the attack a response to Israeli crimes and a rejection of the Israeli occupation by Arab people. Retaliatory attacks in the occupied West Bank have seen a sharp increase since the onset of the genocidal war on Gaza. The regime has also launched a massive military campaign on the occupied West Bank on August 28, killing dozens of Palestinians.
France political crisis
French far-right leader Marine Le Pen has called for a referendum on key issues such as immigration, health care and security to break the political deadlock in the country. Le Pen said President Emmanuel Macron has created chaos in France but has the levers to keep democracy alive in the country. She pointed to Macron’s controversial decision to appoint center-right Michel Barnier as prime minister. Le Pen said she would not hesitate to censure the government if the French are once again forgotten or mistreated. Mass protests erupted across France after Macron appointed Barnier as premier. The political left accuses Macron of stealing the July elections. The left-wing New Popular Front alliance came top in the vote but it resulted in a hung parliament.
