US-Israeli genocide in Gaza
The Israeli regime has launched fresh airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, causing more death and destruction across the besieged territory. In the latest attacks, Israeli forces targeted different neighborhoods of Gaza City, killing at least five Palestinians. The regime’s earlier strikes on the Nuseirat refugee camp in the southern city of Khan Yunis left nearly two dozen people dead as well. Israel has issued fresh evacuation orders to Palestinians in parts of Khan Yunis, the central city of Deir al-Balah and Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza ahead of a possible new invasion. Israel attacked Gaza in October last year. The onslaught has so far left over 40,000 Palestinians dead and more than 92,000 injured, most of them women and children.
Gaza truce talks
Iran’s acting foreign minister says the supply of weapons to Israel by the US makes it an accomplice in the regime’s crimes, rather than a neutral mediator. Ali Bagheri Kani made the remarks in a phone conversation with Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. The focus was the developments of the second day of Gaza ceasefire talks in Doha, where the US was present. In an online post, Bagheri Kani said he warned about the deceit and untrustworthiness of Israeli officials and the US at the negotiating table. He also said the Qatari foreign minister explained the persisting obstacles to a ceasefire that would end Israeli crimes in Gaza. The Gaza truce talks are mediated by Qatar and Egypt. The next round of the discussions will be held in Cairo next week.
Yemen supports Palestine
Yemeni protesters have also poured onto the streets across the country in yet another manifestation of unwavering support for the Palestinian people in the war-ravaged Gaza Strip. Protesters held pictures of assassinated top resistance figures, Ismaeil Haniyeh and Fuad Shukr, demanding retaliation. They also slammed Israel and its main supporter, Washington, for the genocide in Gaza. Yemenis have been holding pro-Palestine demonstrations almost every Friday since the start of the genocidal war on Gaza. Protesters also hailed the Yemeni army’s operations targeting Israel-linked vessels in international waters. The country's naval operations have been ongoing since mid-November to force Israel to end its war on Gaza. Yemen says it will continue to back Palestinians until the war comes to an end.
