The Yemeni parliament has denounced the “shameful” silence of Arab and Muslim countries in the face of Israel’s crimes against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, calling for urgent action to stop the regime’s genocide in the besieged territory.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the parliament appealed to Arab and Islamic parliaments to act urgently to save Palestinian people from the ongoing Israeli atrocities, which have resulted in the death of over 45,000 and injury of 107,000 Palestinians in more than 440 days.
It also called for the Israeli regime's “war criminals” to be held accountable for their crimes against Palestinians.
The parliament further criticized remarks by Israeli foreign minister Gideon Sa'ar seeking designation of Palestinians’ supporters as terrorist, stressing that real terrorism is manifested in the crimes of the occupying regime against children, women, and the elderly.
It also affirmed Yemen's right to defend its unity, security, stability and sovereignty by all possible and available means, emphasizing that the Arab country will continue to confront any foreign attacks on its land and territorial waters.
The parliament further called on all Yemeni people to unite ranks and rally around the revolutionary and political leadership and be vigilant to confront any hostile movements targeting the security and stability of the country.
It also condemned the ongoing American-British-Israeli attacks on Yemen, stating they violate international law and UN Security Council resolutions, and pose a significant threat to international peace and security.
Since the onset of Israel’s campaign of genocide in the Gaza Strip in October last year, the Yemeni forces have taken measures to assert their support for the Palestinian resistance in Gaza, targeting Israeli vessels in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
Additionally, the Yemeni armed forces have launched several missile and drone attacks against the Israeli-occupied territories, particularly focusing on Tel Aviv. They have pledged to continue these operations as long as Israel maintains its assaults on Gaza, signaling a potential for further escalation in the region.
In October, the US military unleashed B-2 stealth bombers to bomb Yemen in support of Israel. Since then, attacks against Yemen from Israel, the US and the UK have continued in a bid to halt the retaliatory attacks by Sana'a.
