The Arab Parliament has strongly condemned Israel’s “heinous massacre” of  Palestinian civilians in the city of Deir al-Balah in the central part of the Gaza Strip, calling on the international community to pressure the occupying regime to stop its genocidal war on the besieged enclave.

The legislative body of the Arab League made the remarks in a statement on Sunday, a day after an Israeli strike on a school sheltering displaced people in Deir al-Balah left at least 30 Palestinians dead.

The Arab Parliament described the Israeli strike as “a cowardly terrorist act, a shameful crime, and a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.”

It also called on international, regional, and European parliaments to pressure their governments to take action in all international forums to stand by the Palestinian people, who are subjected to these heinous crimes.

The Arab Parliament further denounced the “shameful international silence” on the crimes of the Israeli regime and the failure to deter and hold it accountable for its crimes against Palestinian civilians.

It went on to say that the Israeli occupying entity should be held accountable and brought before the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate the genocide and ethnic cleansing crimes it is practicing against the Palestinian people.

The Arab parliament further urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to assume their responsibilities and pressure the Israeli regime to stop the war of genocide and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people in Gaza and provide international protection for Palestinian civilians.

On Saturday, the Israeli military conducted an air raid on Khadija school west of Deir al-Balah, killing at least 30 Palestinians and wounding more than 100 people.

Widespread condemnation poured in after the Israeli regime carried out the attack, with the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas calling on the international community and the United Nations “to break the policy of silence” and take steps to force the occupying regime to stop its crimes.

Gaza schools have been turned into a center for sheltering the displaced across the Gaza Strip since Israel started its barbarous campaign in Gaza more than nine months ago.

Thousands of displaced Palestinians are sheltering in school buildings with no other place to flee amid the regime's relentless bombardment of their homeland.

Israel launched the devastating war on Gaza on October 7 after Hamas waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in response to the Israeli regime's decades-long campaign of bloodletting and devastation against Palestinians.

Since the start of the offensive, the Tel Aviv regime has killed at least 39,258 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured over 90,830 others.
