The Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah has fired dozens of projectiles into the northern occupied territories in retaliation for an Israeli attack in southern Lebanon.

In a statement on Thursday, Hezbollah said its fighters targeted an Israeli barracks with "dozens of Katyusha rockets”.

It said the attack was carried out in response to the assassination of one of its fighters in an Israeli strike in the village of Deir Kifa earlier in the day.

Lebanon's official National News Agency reported that the deadly Israeli drone strike left one dead after hitting a vehicle in the area.

Hezbollah later identified the assassinated fighter as Abbas Ibrahim Hamada.

The Israeli military claimed that Hamada was responsible for commanding Hezbollah ground forces in south Lebanon's Jouaiyya area.

Hezbollah has been carrying out almost daily rocket attacks on Israeli positions in retaliation for the regime’s aggression against Lebanon and in response to the ongoing Israeli onslaught against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Israel threatened Lebanon with an “all-out war” on Tuesday with the military saying, “operational plans for an offensive in Lebanon were approved and validated.”

Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah warned the regime on Wednesday that "no place" in the occupied territories would be spared in case of a full-blown war.

At least 455 people have been killed on the Lebanese border, according to a tally by AFP.

Two Israeli wars waged against Lebanon in 2000 and 2006 were met with strong resistance from Hezbollah, resulting in the retreat of the regime in both conflicts.
