Hezbollah strikes Israeli military outposts in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza

Fighters from the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement set up their anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) system and camera near the border with southern Lebanon in this picture released by the group’s military bureau on January 18, 2024.

In a show of solidarity with Palestinians amid the ongoing Israeli onslaught on the Gaza Strip, fighters from Lebanon's Hezbollah resistance movement have launched a series of attacks on Israeli military positions in the northern part of the 1948-occupied territories.

Lebanon’s al-Mayadeen television news network, citing a Hezbollah statement, reported that the group struck the headquarters of the Israeli military’s 91st Division at the Biranit barracks with a salvo of surface-to-surface Falaq-1 (Dusk-1) missiles, causing partial destruction and casualties in the targeted site.

The Lebanese resistance movement announced that the operation came in support of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and in retaliation for Israeli assaults on the southern towns and villages of Lebanon.

Hezbollah members also attacked and destroyed Israeli spying devices at the al-Raheb outpost with appropriate weapons.

Additionally, the Lebanese resistance fighters fired surface-to-air missiles at Israeli military aircraft as they were hovering over southern Lebanon and breaking the sound barrier. The warplanes had to retreat and leave the area as a result.

Later on Thursday, Hezbollah resistance fighters targeted and destroyed newly-installed spying devices in a missile attack on the Metula outpost which caused a fire in the site.

Hezbollah also launched a number of heavy-caliber Burkan (Volcano) missiles at the Israeli al-Baghdadi outpost, striking the designated target precisely and causing casualties there.

Moreover, a barrage of rockets was fired at the Zebdine site in the occupied Lebanese Shebaa Farms.

At around 11:15 p.m. local time (2015 GMT), Hezbollah fighters also shelled a gathering of Israeli soldiers near the Zarit barracks with a salvo of artillery shells.

The Israeli regime has repeatedly attacked southern Lebanon since October 7, when it launched a genocidal war on Gaza that has killed at least 36,654 Palestinians, most of them women and children.

In retaliation, Hezbollah has launched near-daily rocket attacks on Israeli positions.

At least 455 people have been killed on the Lebanese border, including 88 civilians, according to an AFP tally.

Hezbollah has already fought off two Israeli wars against Lebanon in 2000 and 2006. The resistance forced the regime to retreat in both conflicts.
