The semi-final stage of the World Wrestling Championships saw three Iranian free-style wrestlers secure a spot in the finals on the first day of the event in Belgrade, Serbia.

Amirmohammad Yazdani, Hassan Yazdani, and Amirhossein Zare reached the finals in their respective categories, while Reza Atri faced defeat against a skilled Japanese wrestler and was eliminated from the competition.

In a series of crucial semi-final matches, Hassan Yazdani and American wrestler David Taylor emerged victorious, earning a spot in the final of the 86-kilogram weight class.

Hassan Yazdani secured a dominating victory with a score of 10-0 against Javrail Shapiev from Uzbekistan, advancing to the World Championships final in the 86-kilogram weight category.

The presence of Taylor and Yazdani in the final sets the stage for an intense battle between these two world-renowned champions.

In their previous encounters, Taylor emerged victorious four times out of five against Yazdani. The wrestling world eagerly awaits their clash in Belgrade.

Additionally, in the 125-kilogram weight category, Amirhossein Zare took a decisive revenge against Taha Akgul from Turkey, triumphing with a score of 4-0 in the semi-finals.

Zare's victory secured Iran's quota in the freestyle wrestling competition in this weight category, according to the United World Wrestling.

Quotas are allocated to countries based on their wrestlers' performances in international tournaments.

In the first four weight categories of the World Wrestling Championships, both Iran and the United States have secured three finalists each.
