France protest ban

French protesters have defied a ban on holding rallies against police violence as unrest intensifies nationwide.

On Saturday, hundreds hit the streets of Paris to honor Adam Traore, a black youth who died in police custody in 2016. Clashes were reported in Paris protest, during which Traore's brother was arrested.

In this edition of the Spotlight program, Press TV interviews Matthew Ehret, a senior fellow at American University in Moscow from Montreal, and John Bosnitch, journalist, activist and political analyst from Belgrade. The discussion focuses on whether France is heading toward a social crisis or a democracy crisis, or is it on the verge of a major uprising with police violence against people of color being the spark?
