Iran-Uzbekistan ties

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution says Iran and Uzbekistan enjoy extensive common ground in the historical, cultural and scientific sectors and must use this unique opportunity to expand relations in other fields. Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei made the remarks in meeting with visiting Uzbek President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The Leader said Tehran-Tashkent relations were limited for many years, expressing hope that the visit and bilateral talks will open a new chapter in ties. He said those opposing the relations should be ignored and areas of cooperation can extend beyond trade and transportation to other fields such as science and technology. For his part, the Uzbek president lauded the Iranian nation for their steadfastness in the face of sanctions. Earlier, President Mirziyoyev and his Iranian counterpart, Ebrahim Raeisi, oversaw the signing of ten cooperation documents.

US-China cold ties

The Chinese foreign minister says relations with the US are at their lowest point since their establishment in 1979. Qin Gang made the remarks after meeting US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, in Beijing. Qin described the issue of Taiwan as the most prominent risk in Sino-US relations. However, he stressed China’s commitment to building a stable relationship with the US. The US State Department, meanwhile, described the Blinken-Qin talks as candid and constructive. Blinken also called for diplomacy and open channels of communication to reduce the risk of "misperception and miscalculation". The two officials agreed to meet again in Washington. Blinken is the first top American diplomat to visit China in five years.

Russia-Ukraine war

Russia says it has repelled multiple rounds of attacks by Ukrainian forces in the front lines, with fighting most intense in the Zaporizhzhia region. Konashenkov added that Ukrainian forces had targeted three settlements in the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region. Kiev has made no comments yet. Russia says it's inflicting heavy losses on Kiev's forces. Ukraine, meanwhile, says it has made progress in its counteroffensive. Kiev says its troops have managed to retake about 100 square kilometers of lost territory. Russian President Vladimir Putin says Ukraine has no chance of success in the counter-offensive.
