Analyst: US chemical weapons claim is a distraction from revelation of US bio-weapons in Ukraine

The White House’s warning of the potential for Russia to use chemical weapons in Ukraine “has to be viewed as a warning that the US plans to use chemical weapons in Ukraine, and to then try to blame it on Russia,” according to American journalist and political analyst Don DeBar.

But, in an interview with Press TV on Thursday, DeBar warned that “they'll be making a severe miscalculation.”

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said on Wednesday Russia could use chemical weapons in Ukraine after Moscow revealed the United States was housing biological weapons in Ukrainian territory.

Psaki described the Russian revelation as "false" and "preposterous," and she claimed it could serve as a pretext for the Russians to deploy chemical weapons in their ongoing military operation in Ukraine.

"It’s the kind of disinformation operation we’ve seen repeatedly from the Russians over the years in Ukraine and in other countries, which have been debunked, and an example of the types of false pretexts we have been warning the Russians would invent," Psaki said in a statement.

The United States on Tuesday made a stunning admission, saying that Ukraine hosts US-funded “biological research facilities." 

US Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland expressed concern during a Senate hearing on Ukraine after Russia published documents showing that Kiev was ordered to urgently eliminate traces of what was deemed as a biological weapons program, financed by the Pentagon.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry said it had found evidence of US-funded biolabs in Ukraine. 

The ministry said it had been closely monitoring the bioweapons programs that were developed by the Pentagon in post-Soviet countries, adding that according to new findings, a “network” of more than 30 biological laboratories was formed in Ukraine in particular.

US admits Ukraine has 'biological research facilities'

The United States has admitted that Ukraine hosts “biological research facilities,” expressing concern that they could come under the control of Russian forces, as Moscow makes further advances following its military offensive in the country.

DeBar said, “Victoria Nuland admitted there are US biolabs around Ukraine, and that they want to prevent the Russians from seeing them.”

“She admitted this in response to a question from Senator Mark Rubio asking if there are US biological weapons there - a question which she did not answer directly, instead of making this admission of fact. And then she said that the Russians trademark is to ‘accuse the other side of the things you're doing,’" the analyst added.

“Now Washington accuses Russia of preparing to use chemical weapons. This is facially absurd to anyone who is following what is happening on the ground. But even if it were true that Russia's military doctrine would include the use of chemical weapons, there would be no need to do so at this point, because Ukraine would have already been buried under a Russian ‘Shock and Awe,’" he continued.

“Their military doctrine, being applied in Ukraine, is intended to avoid civilian casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure as much as possible, and it has done that by every measure. Meanwhile, Ukraine's strategy has been to embed military hardware in civilian areas, and Kiev and Washington have been exposed as partners in developing biologic WMDs at multiple sites in Ukraine along Russia's borders. This has all been well-documented,” he noted.

“This statement from the White House, assuming Biden understood it or saw it before Jen Psaki made it, has to be viewed as a warning that the US plans to use chemical weapons in Ukraine, and to then try to blame it on Russia,” he pointed out.

A chilling discovery in Ukraine: US-funded bio-labs

Amidst Russia’s military operation on Ukraine, a grueling discovery has been made: US-funded bio labs.

“If they do that,” DeBar added, “they'll be making a severe miscalculation. No one in the world - except perhaps half, or less, of the American people - will believe it. And I'm not referring to that measure of public opinion which the New York Times or CNN or Reuters polls will show. I'm talking about what the actual people here will be willing to believe in the midst of their own suffering, with $5 to $10 a gallon gas and bread that's about to triple or quadruple in price.”
