Based on a recent statement released by Afghanistan's foreign ministry, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has once again pledged to strongly back the Afghan peace process during a phone conversation with his Afghan counterpart, Mohammad Hanif Atmar.

The senior Afghan diplomat has welcomed Zarif's stance and asked him to support Kabul's ceasefire offer as an attempt to pave the way for a lasting peace in Afghanistan, according to the Afghan foreign ministry statement.

However, almost all in Afghanistan believe that as regional and international players are involved in the war in Afghanistan, finding a way to put an end to decades-long violence in the country needs regional and international agreement and cooperation as well.

In the meantime, many here believe that afghans are tired of war, and that is why they seem to be determined to bring peace to their country this time. Hence, they support the policies of foreign players with regards to Afghan peace talks.

The first round of long-delayed intra-Afghan talks officially kicked off in the Qatari capital Doha on Saturday.

Soon after the opening ceremony of the event, many states including Iran called the meeting "a great move "toward convincing warring parties in Afghanistan to replace guns with dialog in order to bring a lasting peace to the country.
