The Iranian men’s national futsal team has thrashed the Belarusian side in a friendly fixture as it is gearing up for the forthcoming 2018 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Futsal Championship.
On Sunday evening, the Iranian outfit stormed past the Eastern European squad 5-0 in a game staged in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.
Forward Ahmad Esmaeilpour managed to open the scoring in the tenth minute. Abolghasem Orouji doubled Iran’s lead five minutes later, before Farhad Tavakoli made it 3-0 in the 16th minute.
Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh Navlighi, who currently plays for Sanaye Giti Pasand club in the Iranian Futsal Super League, jabbed Iran’s fifth goal in the 30th minute, after which Mehran Alighadr scored to give Team Melli Futsal a 5-0 lead.
The 2018 AFC Futsal Championship will take place in Chinese Taipei between February 1 and 11, 2018.
During the official draw ceremony at the Sherwood Taipei in Taipei on December 12, 2017, Iran joined China, Iraq and Myanmar in Group C of the upcoming continental sports event.
The host nation, Bahrain, Malaysia and Vietnam form Group A in the preliminary round of the tournament.
Japan is drawn in Group B, and is pitted against South Korea, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
Group D consists of Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon and Thailand.
