The Iran men's national futsal team has finished its campaign at the Isfahan International Futsal Tournament on a high note, thrashing the Russian side in the title challenge.
On Wednesday, the final match was staged at Naghsh-e Jahan Stadium in the central Iranian city of Isfahan, located about 450 kilometers (279 miles) south of the capital Tehran, and the Iranian team trounced the Russian squad 4-0.
Iran’s Mehdi Javid scored a brace in the 19th and 29th minutes.
Alireza Rafiei made it 3-0 for the hosts in the 32nd minute, before Mohammad Shajari netted Iran’s fourth goal in the 38th minute.
The Isfahan International Futsal Tournament started on December 3, and finished on December 6, 2017.
Iran was held to a 3-3 draw against Azerbaijan in its opening match, and edged past Kazakhstan 2-1 in its second fixture.
The Iran men's national futsal team won the title with seven points, followed by Russia (four points). Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan got two points each.
