Iranian female sports shooters have impressed the audience at the 10th edition of Asian Airgun Shooting Championships in Japan, and collected a silver gold medal for the Islamic Republic at the continental sports event.
On Saturday, the Iranian squad, consisting of Seyyedeh Roya Sobhkhiz, Maryam Shafiei and Fatemeh Karamzadeh, finished second at the women’s 10m air rifle youth team competitions in the central Japanese city of Wako with a total score of 1243.0 points.
Chinese female athletes stood on the gold podium with 1246.6 points. The Indian team collected 1238.1 points and landed in the third place to win the bronze.
Meanwhile, Amir Siavash Zolfagharian represented Iran in the junior men’s category, and notched up 184.2 points to book the ticket to Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games.
The 10th edition of Asian Airgun Shooting Championships started on December 6, and will finish on December 12, 2017.
A total of 407 shooters from 27 Asian countries are reportedly competing for medals at the tournament.
