The Iran men’s national beach soccer team

The Iran men’s national beach soccer team has missed out a place in the final showdown of the Huawei Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup Dubai 2017 in the United Arab Emirates, after it could not triumph over the 2017 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Beach Soccer World Cup champion, Brazil, in the semi-finals.

On Friday, the Reis da Praia edged out Team Melli Saheli 6-4 at Business Bay in Dubai, and set up its showpiece clash with the Portugal national beach soccer team, nicknamed Selecção das Quinas.

It was Brazil which took the lead when Datinha headed home the opener in the fourth minute, before Ali Nazem scored the equalizer seven minutes later.

In the twelfth minute, Brazilian forward Bokinha’s goal sent his side through. Filipe netted Brazil’s fourth in the 14th minute.

The Reis da Praia was awarded a penalty six minutes later, and Bruno Xavier buried the ball in the back of the net.

Iranian defender Mostafa Kiani sought to narrow the deficit, and scored a hat trick in quick succession.

Finally, forward Mauricinho jabbed Brazil’s sixth goal in the 34th minute.

The Iran men’s national beach soccer team will face Russia in the third place play-off on Saturday.
