Iranian powerlifters have exhibited impressive displays of physical strength and athletic prowess at the Open European Championships 2017 Global Power Federation (GPF) in Ukraine, and won the trophy.
During the one-day competition in the Ukrainian capital city of Kiev, Saeed Fazeli, Mahdi Khodayari, Mohammad Reza Ahmadi, Mohammad Hossein Shahani, Azim Hajizadeh, Ebrahim Khatibi and Marjan Heydarzadeh ranked first in powerlifting contests, IRNA reported on Tuesday.
Additionally, Seyyed Samed Ghoreyshi, Mohammad Daryaei, Majid Dehqani, Ahmad Reza Zohrab, Behzad Mohammadpoor Motlaq, Ali Basatin and Pouriya Mahmoudi stole the show in the men’s bench press heats.
The Open European Championships 2017 GPF was held in Kiev, Ukraine, on August 5.
Ghoreyshi, who is the President of Iran Global Power Union (IGPU) and an International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) representative, said Iranian powerlifters are set to participate in the World League, which is scheduled to be held in Russia in October.
