Iranian athletes top-ranked in CSIT World Sports Games

Iranian male and female athletes have demonstrated praiseworthy performances at the fifth edition of Confédération Sportive Internationale Travailliste et Amateur (CSIT) World Sports Games in Latvia, and managed to bag 15 medals to lift the trophy.

In the men's 4x100m relay division, the Iranian outfit, comprised of Rouhollah Mohammadi, Reza Malekpour, Omid Najafpour and Hadi Khoubyari, scooped the gold.

Morteza Nazemi took part in the men’s discus throw, hammer throw and shot put competitions in the Latvian capital city of Riga, and received three gold medals.

Reza Malekpour also managed to win gold in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.14 seconds.

Additionally, Iranian athlete Ehsan Tahmasebi earned the gold medal in the men's individual 400m division.

In the men's 4x100m team division, the Iranian team of Tahmasebi, Ali Qasemi, Mohammad Reza Rahimi and Sajjad Zare’ai, snatched the silver medal.

Malekpour collected the silver medal in the men's individual 400m division.

Ahmad Foroud was also the second fastest runner in the men’s 5000m category of the CSIT World Sports Games, and claimed the silver medal.Aylin Babaki added a silver medal to the Islamic Republic’s medal tally by registering 1.66 meters in the final contest of women’s high jump.

In the women's 4x100m relay division, the Iranian outfit, comprised of Hakimeh Moghimi, Zahra Moradi, Manzar Esmaeilabadi and Babaki, settled for the bronze.

Rouhollah Mohammadi and Manzar Esmaeilabadi pockd tow medals for the Iranian athletics delegation as well.

The fifth edition of the CSIT World Sports Games kicked off in Riga, Latvia, on June 13 and runs through June 18, 2017.
